Brenda Jerles'  Scholarship

Brenda Nutt Jerles went to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 3, 2015, after a 15-month battle with Leukemia.

Born December 26, 1950, Brenda was the bonus Christmas present to Rucia and Grayford Nutt of Clarksville. She was a graduate of Clarksville High School, Austin Peay State University, and Tennessee State University. Her teaching career spanned 42 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Clarksville, since the age of 6.

"Miss Brenda's" legacy will live on through hundreds of students, many of whom knew her as the "Beautiful, Young, Fairy Princess, Godmother, Kindergarten teacher named Mrs. Jerles." The progress and welfare of her students was her mission in life. Those who knew her soon understood that she was a special person, a "teacher's teacher" by example, and a loving Christian by faith and actions. Ever the educator, she has donated her remains to Vanderbilt Medical School, Nashville.

Beloved wife of 42 years, she and Joe were together since high school. The devotion to each other was easily apparent, as was her deep love for her precious daughter, Alisha and her treasured sister, Linda. She leaves behind many dear friends.

Two Rivers Association for the Education of Young Children is honored to have had Brenda serve on our Board for many years.  To continue her legacy, this scholarship has been formed to help Early Childhood Educators attain their educational goals at Nashville State Community College.
